Learn how we got started
One person we saw was in need. Now we're helping students and families get what they need to keep going.
What makes someone start a nonprofit from scratch?
For Darlene Lorenz, it was the simple belief that a student's zip code or passport shouldn't decide their future. She saw neighbors here and students from across the world struggling to pay for tuition, books, and even basic necessities. So she started My Brothers & Sisters & I to help.
The hands and hearts behind our mission
We may be small, but we show up every day for the students and families. Here's the team making it happen.

Darlene Lorenz
Founder & Board President
Darlene started My Brothers & Sisters & I because she believes every student and every family needs assistance, espeically during holidays. She handles everything from fundraising to packing gift boxes.
Volunteer your time. Make a real difference.
Whether you can spare a few hours to sort supplies or help a student with their books, to helping create kindness cards such as Christmas, 4th of July, Halloween/Saints Day, Easter, etc., your time changes lives here.

3 dozen

What people say about our work
I would like to share with you that my heart is full of gratitude for every dollar you send. Thank you for being God's instrument in helping youth like me.
Lex K.
International Student, Philippine Maritime Institute

They helped me get the books I needed for my first semester. That one thing made a huge difference when I was already stressed about tuition.
Ana M.
College of the Canyons student

As an international student, I didn't qualify for most aid. They found a way to help me with school supplies when I couldn't afford them.
